What I Thought I Knew (Memoir)by Alice Even Cohen. You’re 44. You’re pregnant. Diagnosed as infertile since you were 30, what doctors first thought was a tumor is now a baby. What do you do? One woman’s story.

Slippery Year by Melanie Gideon (Fiction): Hilarious meditations on the “domestic” life many strive for, but have no idea what to do with when they achieve it.

The Liar In Your Life by Robert Feldman (Self Help): Are we a nation conditioned to lie? Feldman’s interesting exploration into the habit of “lying”, from marital infidelity to how we teach our children.

Memoirs

  • I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti by Giulia Melucci. One woman’s journey through relationships, one meal at a time! And if you write the author, she will personally respond. Great recipes a bonus!
  • Split: A Memoir of Divorce by Suzanne Finnamore. A candid recollection of divorce and single parenthood. Finnamore lays it out for you stone cold reminding us divorce is both a journey and a process.
  • Love Junkie by Rachel Resnick. Perpetually in relationships? Hopping into bed with men at an alarming rate? This could be you. Erotic. Startling. Hitting awful close to home.
  • Happens Every Day by Isabel Gillies. One day, you wake up, and your husband says he’s leaving. Worse yet, it’s for another woman, which you will eventually find out. Gillies relays her love story in a way so sobering,  you’re pretty sure you’ve lived it, too.
  • Perfection by Julie Metz. One day, you wake up to discover your recently deceased husband had a whole other life you knew nothing about. This book is in the “so you think YOU have it bad” category. A very worthy read.
  • Year of the Cock by Alan Wieder. The male perspective on what happens when you leave your wife for greener pastures. Hilarious read, with a whole chapter devoted to Wieder’s growing obsession with his penis size.
  • Love Is A Mixed Tape by Rob Sheffield. A story about love and loss, full of hope and renewal one song at a time.
  • In Her Own Time by Rachel Lehmann-Haupt. Lehmann-Haupt’s entire life is poised and planned until it suddenly implodes. Her story about the rush to find love again before her biological clock stops ticking.
  • The Ramen King and I by Andy Raskin. One’s man’s journey to understanding his romantic past through Ramen Noodles. Most creative journey I know of!
